The Nigeria Customs Service has named Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, as the Grand Patron of the upcoming African Women’s Volleyball Championship.
This announcement was made by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, during a visit to the First Lady’s office in Abuja on March 14, 2025.

The championship, scheduled to take place in Abuja from April 1 to 14, 2025, will feature top volleyball clubs from 23 African countries.
The Nigeria Customs Service volleyball team has an impressive record, having won the Volleyball Premier League in 2018, 2022, and 2024, as well as the Confederation of Africa Zone 3 Volleyball Championship in 2018 and 2019.
CGC Adeniyi praised the First Lady’s commitment to women’s empowerment and her Renewed Hope Initiative, which has positively impacted education, healthcare, and economic empowerment for women, youth, and vulnerable groups.
