The Kano State Government has intensified efforts to ensure stable electricity supply to water treatment plants across the state to boost potable water production and reduce reliance on diesel.
The State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Engineer Gaddafi Sani Shehu, disclosed this during an inspection visit to the Tamburawa Water Treatment Plant to assess its power supply and identify areas requiring improvement.

He said the ministry had improved electricity supply to several water treatment plants, including Guzu-Guzu, Joda, Watari and Tudun Wada.
According to the commissioner, the rehabilitation of power infrastructure at the facilities is part of the government’s efforts to improve access to potable water across Kano State.

Engineer Gaddafi Sani Shehu assured residents that the ministry would continue working to provide stable and efficient electricity to enhance water production and reduce the high cost of diesel consumption at the treatment plants.
He also urged residents to protect electricity and water infrastructure in their communities to ensure the sustainability of government investments.

The commissioner commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for prioritising access to potable water and other essential services in the state.
He was accompanied on the inspection visit by the Managing Director of Kano Hydro and Energy Development Company, Engineer Ado Ibrahim Doguwa; the Deputy Managing Director, Engineer Abduljabbar Muhammad Nanono; and other stakeholders in the power sector.
