Kano State Led Accountability Mechanism (KanSLAM) has said that Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf has put a square peg in a square hole by appointing Dr Ibrahim Musa, as the Special Adviser on health services and personal physician to the governor.
KanSLAM noted that engaging experts in critical areas would help the State Government achieve its lofty aspirations to put the state on a sound scientific pedestal, stressing that as a coalition, KanSLAM received the news of Dr Musa’s appointment with great relief and sense of patriotic elation.

In a statement issued on Wednesday the KanSLAM’s co-chairperson Pharmacist Maimuna Yakubu recalled that Dr Musa’s hands-on experience in medical research shows that the state Government was eager to join the global strategic thinking that appreciates research and expertise.
“As a research scientist and Medical Doctor from Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) there’s no doubt Dr. Musa’s background as a consultant Haematologist equips him with the analytical prowess necessary to navigate the complexities of health services in Kano state.
“His expertise knowledge would ensure that the state government can make data-driven decisions that align with both global trends and national interests.”

Pharmacist Yakubu further noted tthat “Dr. Musa’s track record as the first Nigerian to receive the American Society of Hematology (ASH) Award, after his 2021 ASH Research Global Award for outstanding probe in Sickle Cell Anemia treatment, will go a long way in providing succour to sickle cell patients in Kano state.”
The Co-chairperson hoped that Dr. Musa’s vast experience in health sector will help in actualising the campaign promises of governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as contained in his blueprint.
