    AHBN Advocates for Improved Women’s Health in Kano State

    The Africa Health Budget Network AHBN-Kano team met with key health officials in Kano State to discuss women’s health accountability.

    Led by Advocacy and Accountability Specialist Aqibu Hamisu, the team met with Dr. Abdullahi, Deputy Director of Public Health, and coordinators for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) and Family Planning (FP).

    The meeting focused on the state government’s progress toward achieving its FP2030 Commitments and identifying areas for collaboration.

    The AHBN team emphasized evidence-based advocacy in funding, service delivery, and accountability mechanisms.

    Dr. Abdullahi appreciated AHBN’s timely intervention and pledged to engage relevant stakeholders for coordinated efforts.

    AHBN Launches Health Security Accountability Framework

    Representatives from the AHBN team, including Sulaiman Jalo, Zainab Nasir (YOSPIS), and Nafisa Shehu (CHR), commended commended the ministry’s open-door policy and reaffirmed their commitment to helping Kano State fulfill its healthcare commitments.

    This engagement is part of AHBN’s efforts to strengthen accountability for women’s health in Kano State.

    Similar initiatives by the AHBN include:
    Immunization Budget Tracking: AHBN’s Community of Practice (CoP) on immunization budget tracking, accountability, and sustainability targets zero-dose children and missed communities.

    Zero-Dose Immunization: AHBN partners with AFENET and GAVI to address zero-dose immunization among children in Kano State.

    Health Security Accountability: AHBN introduces a Health Security Accountability Framework and Scorecard to improve preparedness and transparency amidst health crises
