No fewer than 32 secondary schools in Kano State are set to compete in the state preliminaries of the Inter-Secondary Nestlé Milo Basketball Championship, scheduled to take place from April 2 to 3, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Head of School Sports at the Kano State Ministry of Education, Malam Kabiru Shehu, the boys’ category will be held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Sani Abacha Sports Complex, while the girls’ matches will take place at Government Girls College Dala.
Shehu disclosed that 17 schools will compete in the boys’ category, while 15 schools will battle for honours under the Girls category.
Shehu explained that winners in both categories will represent Kano State at the Savannah Conference, with eventual winners progressing to the national finals in Lagos.
He commended Abba Kabir Yusuf and the State Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna Makoda, for their moral and financial support towards the development of school sports in the state.
He also urged participating students to uphold discipline and serve as good ambassadors of their respective schools.
The finals of the state preliminaries are scheduled to take place on April 4, 2026, at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Sani Abacha Sports Complex, Kofar Mata.
