The Chairman of Gaya Local Government Council, Hon. Mahmud Gaya Tajo Sani, has sponsored 22 female indigenes of the area for admission into the Kano State College of Nursing and Midwifery to study Midwifery.
The beneficiaries will undertake their studies at the College’s campuses in Kano, Madobi, and Danbatta.
Speaking during a brief presentation ceremony, Hon. Mahmud Gaya Tajo presented admission letters to the beneficiaries, congratulated them, and urged them to remain committed to their studies while serving as good ambassadors of Gaya Local Government.
The Chairman explained that the students would undergo a three-month probationary period, after which they would sit for an introductory qualifying examination. He noted that only those who successfully pass the examination would continue with the Midwifery programme through to graduation.
He assured the students of continued support towards their educational needs, subject to their performance in the qualifying examination.
As part of the arrangements, 13 beneficiaries admitted to the Kano Campus were conveyed to the institution, while five students for the Madobi Campus and four for the Danbatta Campus received their admission letters and were advised to prepare for resumption on August 5, 2026.
In addition, Hon. Mahmud Gaya Tajo presented ₦200,000 as pocket money to the students before their departure to their respective campuses.
The initiative highlights the council’s commitment to promoting girl-child education, empowering young people, developing future healthcare professionals, and contributing to improved healthcare delivery in Gaya Local Government Area.
