The Kano State Commissioner for the Ministry of Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME), Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, has inspected the commencement of the ₦10.4 billion Ungogo–Minjibir Road Construction Project as part of the Ministry’s mandate to ensure effective project implementation, quality assurance and value for public funds.
Accompanied by engineers and technical experts from the Ministry, the Commissioner visited the project site to assess the contractor’s level of mobilization and compliance with contractual obligations.
The contracting firm handling the project had fully mobilized to the site and commenced preliminary works, including site preparation, surveying and setting out the road alignment.
Speaking during the inspection, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila expressed satisfaction with the contractor’s early mobilization, assuring that the Ministry would continue routine inspections to ensure strict compliance with approved specifications, quality standards and the project completion timeline.
He said the completed road would improve transportation, strengthen connectivity between communities, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce and goods, boost commercial activities and promote socio-economic development in the benefiting communities.
Meanwhile, residents and community leaders along the Jaba–Gayawa and Dakata–Bela Road Construction Projects commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for ensuring the continuation of the projects. They described the roads as critical infrastructure that would improve mobility, support businesses and enhance the quality of life of residents.
During the monitoring exercise, the Commissioner inspected 31 development projects in Ungogo Local Government Area with a total contract value of ₦39.45 billion, covering education, road infrastructure and public safety.
In Minjibir Local Government Area, he also inspected 13 ongoing projects worth ₦13.95 billion, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to timely project delivery and adherence to quality standards.
The projects inspected included the Phase II general renovation of Government Technical College, Ungogo; renovation of classroom blocks at Kadawa Science and Mathematics Special Primary School; construction of storey classroom blocks at Ungogo Special Primary School, Government Junior Secondary School Inusawa, Government Junior Secondary School Rangaza and Bachirawa Gabas Primary School.
Other projects inspected were classroom construction at Minjibir Gabas Primary School and Government Junior Secondary School, Minjibir, Neighbourhood Security Watch Division Offices, five-kilometre road projects and other critical infrastructure across the two local government areas.
The Ministry said the monitoring exercise is part of its sustained efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability and quality control in the execution of government projects in line with the development agenda of the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
