The Kano State House of Assembly has called on the state government to provide emergency assistance to residents of Shuwaki Town in Tudun Wada Local Government Area following a heavy downpour that destroyed 200 farmlands and damaged critical infrastructure.
This was sequel to deliberations on the floor of the house during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore.

Presenting the motion, the member representing Tudun Wada Constituency, Sule Lawan Shuwaki, said the heavy rainfall last Thursday destroyed 200 rice farms belonging to local farmers.
Sule Shuwaki explained that,the downpour destroyed a historic bridge along the Tudun Wada-Shuwaki Road, disrupting transportation and movement, particularly for students and other residents.

He explained that the damage had adversely affected the socio-economic activities of the community, making it difficult for residents to access their farms and move between the affected areas.
The lawmaker appealed to the state government to provide relief materials and other forms of assistance to affected farmers and victims of the flooding.
He also called for the immediate reconstruction of the damaged bridge and road to ease the hardship being experienced by residents of Shuwaki and surrounding communities.

The motion was seconded by the member representing Gezawa Constituency, Abdullahi Yahaya Tsamiyar Kara.
After deliberations, the House adopted the motion and called on the state government to expedite action on the situation.
