The Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) is set to hold its Council Meeting at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Cross River State, from October 21 to 22, 2026.

The meeting will bring together chairmen and directors of sports from member institutions across the country to deliberate on issues concerning the administration and development of university sports in Nigeria.
Discussions will focus on the association’s activities, upcoming competitions, accreditation processes, championship organisation and strategies for strengthening sports administration in Nigerian universities.

Participants are expected to arrive on October 20, while their departure is scheduled for October 23, 2026.
The meeting is expected to provide a platform for institutional collaboration, the exchange of experiences and coordinated planning to promote the growth and development of university sports in the country.

It will also enable sports administrators from member institutions to review existing programmes and discuss measures to improve the organisation of NUGA competitions.
It would be recalled that the University of Jos hosted the last edition of the Nigerian University Games, which attracted more than 80 universities from across the country.
