Over the weekend, designers, models, creatives, entrepreneurs and fashion enthusiasts gathered in Abuja for the 2026 edition of Nigeria Fashion Week.
The three-day event, held from October 2 to 4, marked a significant shift for the long-running fashion showcase, which moved to Abuja from its traditional base in Lagos.

The event showcased Nigeria’s rich creative talent while highlighting Abuja’s growing potential as an emerging fashion destination.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, said Nigerian fashion goes beyond creativity, describing it as an industry capable of creating jobs, growing businesses, strengthening local production and projecting Nigerian identity to global markets.
Musawa said the Federal Government would continue to support private-sector initiatives and build partnerships aimed at transforming Nigeria’s creative potential into sustainable industries.

She commended the organisers, led by the President of Nigeria Fashion Week, Lexy Mojo-Eyes, as well as partners and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the 2026 edition.
The Minister said the government remained committed to supporting initiatives that could take Nigerian fashion from creativity to industry and expand its reach from local markets to the global stage.
