The Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board, BSPHCB, through the IMPACT Project, has distributed 20 digital 4D ultrasound machines and anti-shock garments to selected health facilities across the state.
The intervention is aimed at improving access to quality maternal healthcare services and reducing maternal and child mortality in Bauchi State.

The equipment was commissioned on Tuesday at the Bauchi State Government House by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Auwal Jatau.
The ultrasound machines are expected to enable health facilities to provide free scans for pregnant women and support the early detection of pregnancy-related complications.

According to the board, early diagnosis will help facilitate timely referral and medical intervention, particularly for women requiring specialised care.
The distribution of the anti-shock garments is also expected to strengthen the capacity of health workers to manage obstetric emergencies and provide timely care to women experiencing severe complications.

The intervention forms part of ongoing efforts by the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services at the primary healthcare level.
The board said the deployment of the equipment to selected facilities would improve healthcare delivery and contribute to efforts to reduce preventable maternal and child deaths across the state.
