Kano State Government has reiterated its dedication to fortifying its symbiotic relationship with India, aiming to boost socio-economic development within the state.
This announcement comes after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf met with Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Shri G. Balasubramanian, at Government House in Kano.
Governor Yusuf emphasized the long-standing connection between India and Kano State, spanning multiple sectors.
The key areas of collaboration include education, where hundreds of Kano indigenes study in Indian universities, healthcare, with Kano residents seeking medical tourism in India, agriculture, technology, and trade, which hold immense potential for cooperation and knowledge sharing.
The Governor acknowledged India’s rapid advancements in education and healthcare, which have attracted numerous Kano residents to Indian universities and medical tourism.
He assured continuous collaboration with the Kano State Government to complete its two mega power projects in Tiga and Challawa, essential for reviving moribund industries and stimulating socio-economic growth.
The Indian High Commissioner expressed admiration for Governor Yusuf’s initiatives, which aim to improve living conditions in Kano.
He also discussed potential areas of cooperation, aligning with India’s foreign policy initiatives.
This renewed commitment is expected to strengthen the economic ties between India and Kano State, driving growth and development in the region.
