The Centre for Dryland Agriculture CDA has strengthened the capacity of local government directors of agriculture and forestry in Kaduna State through a 3-day intensive training on modern agricultural extension services.
The workshop, held from February 17-19, 2025, aimed to equip participants with innovative strategies to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability at the grassroots level.

The Director of CDA, Prof. Jibrin Mohammed Jibrin, emphasized the need for long-term sustainability in agricultural programs and effective advisory services to farmers.

Prof. Amina Mustapha, the CDa Deputy Director Outreach and Publications highlighted the role of partnerships in driving impactful agricultural initiatives, while Prof. Ali Abdullahi and Dr. Amina Aminu Idris trained participants on data collection techniques essential for evidence-based decision-making.
Other facilitators, including Dr. Mahmoud Ibrahim Daneji and Dr. Suleiman Muhammad Sabiu, explored best practices in extension services and local government agricultural support.
The workshop’s impact was evident as participants outlined plans to apply their new knowledge in their respective LGAs. Dahiru Mohammed Tanko (Makarfi LGA) pledged to promote dryland farming techniques and cooperative societies, while Jedidiah Cecilia Samuel (Chukun LGA) aimed to introduce urban agriculture innovations such as sack farming to boost food production.
