    Prime Time News Publisher Commends NUJ on Milestone Anniversary

    The Publisher of Prime Time News, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, has congratulated the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on its 70th anniversary, commending the union’s unwavering dedication to press freedom, professionalism, and the welfare of journalists across the country.

    Shuaibu, a former national officer of the NUJ and Senior Special Assistant (North West) to the union’s former President, Christopher Ikechukwu Isiguzo, lauded the NUJ’s pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s media landscape. He acknowledged its efforts in upholding ethical journalism and advocating for improved working conditions for media professionals.

    He also praised the current NUJ President, Comrade Alhassan Yahya, for his commitment to elevating the union to international standards, urging him to sustain his laudable initiatives.

    Additionally, Shuaibu commended past NUJ Presidents, including Smart Adeyemi, Muhammad Garba, and Christopher Ikechukwu Isiguzo, for their contributions to making the NUJ a formidable institution in the global media community.

    The Prime Time News publisher, who also holds the traditional title of Danmalikin Shanono, emphasized the NUJ’s critical role in fostering a free and responsible press, which remains essential for national development and democracy.

    “As the NUJ marks this milestone, we recognize its invaluable contributions to democracy, accountability, and the protection of press freedom in Nigeria. The union has remained a pillar of support for journalists nationwide, ensuring the media continues its role as society’s watchdog,” Shuaibu stated.

    He further called for stronger collaboration among journalists, media organizations, and stakeholders to uphold the principles of truth, fairness, and responsible journalism, particularly in the face of digital transformation and emerging challenges in the industry.

    Established in 1955, the NUJ has been instrumental in promoting journalists’ rights and fostering professionalism within Nigeria’s media sector.

    As the union celebrates its 70th anniversary, media practitioners across the nation continue to honor its legacy and lasting contributions to press freedom.
