Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal University of Science and Technology (FUST), Kabo, Kano State, to strengthen academic collaboration, research and innovation.
The agreement, signed on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room of FUST Kabo, provides for the exchange of academic staff, researchers and undergraduate and postgraduate students between the two institutions.
Signing the agreement, MAAUN President, Professor Mohammad Israr, said the partnership was another important step in the university’s commitment to building strategic partnerships that promote academic excellence and research.
The MoU also provides for joint research projects and academic programmes, as well as collaboration in conferences, webinars, scientific publications, books and other scholarly activities.
The MAAUN delegation, led by Professor Israr, was received by the Vice-Chancellor of FUST Kabo, Professor Muhammad Sunusi Magaji, and members of the university’s management.
The delegation included MAAUN Vice President, Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar; Vice President, Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba; Director of Human Resources, Dr. Maimuna S. Bello; Dr. Abdulrazak Kayode of the Finance Department, among other senior officials.
Professor Magaji described the partnership as significant, noting that MAAUN was the first institution to sign an MoU with FUST Kabo since its recent upgrade to university status.
He commended the Founder of MAAUN, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, for his contributions to the advancement of education.
The Vice-Chancellor also disclosed that FUST Kabo had recently secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to run 20 academic programmes.
He described the approval as a major milestone that would further strengthen the institution’s academic development.
The partnership is expected to create new opportunities for academic exchange, enhance research collaboration and promote innovation, teaching and learning at both institutions.
