The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, has condemned the killing of 15 farmers by suspected terrorists in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State.
Kyari described the incident as tragic, noting that the victims were killed while working to provide for their families and contribute to the nation’s food production.

In a statement, the Minister expressed condolences to the families of the victims, Governor Babagana Zulum, and the government and people of Borno State over the loss.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of those killed and urged the authorities to provide necessary support to the affected families and communities.

Kyari commended security agencies for their efforts to protect farming communities in the state, while calling for intensified operations to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
He also urged security agencies to intensify efforts to locate and rescue three persons reportedly still missing following the incident.
The Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, to creating a secure environment where farmers can cultivate their land without fear.

He stressed that safeguarding farmers and farming communities is critical to protecting Nigeria’s food supply and strengthening national food security.
Kyari called for continued collaboration between security agencies, state authorities and local communities to improve the safety of farmers across the country.
