The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has pledged to intensify voter education and civic sensitisation nationwide ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The Director-General of the Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said the NOA would work closely with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, the media and other stakeholders to promote informed, peaceful and responsible participation in the electoral process.

Issa-Onilu spoke at an event organised by INEC to brief Nigerians on its level of preparedness for the 2027 General Elections as the country marked 100 days to the polls.
He said the NOA would leverage its presence across all 774 Local Government Areas to reach citizens through community leaders, markets, motor parks, radio, television and social media platforms.
The NOA Director-General described voting as a civic responsibility and urged Nigerians to participate confidently and responsibly in the electoral process.
Also speaking at the event, the leadership of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) assured stakeholders that corps members selected for election duties had been adequately sensitised on electoral rules and guidelines.
Representing the NYSC, Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka warned that corps members who violate electoral regulations would face sanctions in accordance with Nigerian laws and NYSC bye-laws.

Meanwhile, the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash O. Amupitan, announced the commencement of the 100-day countdown to the 2027 General Elections, disclosing that the national voter register currently stands at 103,130,000 registered voters.
He said the voter register would be displayed nationwide from October 9 to 15, 2026, while the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) would also commence on October 9.
Amupitan further disclosed that INEC would deploy new Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices, upgrade its results transmission systems, deploy artificial intelligence for anomaly detection and conduct a nationwide mock election ahead of the polls.
According to him, the Commission plans to mobilise more than 100,000 vehicles and 4,000 boats for the elections, while strengthening measures against vote buying, disinformation and electoral violence.
The European Union Ambassador to Nigeria, Gautier Mignot, reaffirmed the EU’s support for a peaceful and credible electoral process and announced plans to deploy an expert mission to observe the 2027 elections.

Stakeholders at the event called for stronger collaboration among government institutions, political parties, civil society organisations, the media, security agencies and citizens to ensure a peaceful, transparent and credible electoral process.
The NOA reiterated its commitment to using its nationwide structures and media partnerships to promote voter education, civic awareness and peaceful participation as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 General Elections.
