The First Kebbi Economic Development Summit is currently underway at the Presidential Banquet Hall in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
Organized by the Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum in collaboration with the Kebbi State Government, the two-day summit aims to bring together government leaders, business executives, investors, entrepreneurs, and development partners to discuss and chart a sustainable economic growth trajectory for the state.
Declaring the summit open, Governor Nasir Idris said the event is focused on enhancing the state’s economic resilience, creating new job opportunities, and ensuring the sustainable management of Kebbi’s resources for both present and future generations.
According to the governor, the summit will feature high-level discussions, strategic workshops, and technical presentations targeting the transformation of key sectors of Kebbi’s economy.
He noted that deliberations will center on agriculture, mining, the emerging economy, human capital development, and the informal sector, in a bid to address the multifaceted challenges and opportunities within the state and drive inclusive socio-economic growth.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Occasion and Chairman of the Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum, Major General Mohammed Magoro (rtd), said the summit is expected to promote sustainable economic growth, innovation, transformation, and investment.
He expressed optimism that the summit’s outcome will result in capacity building, inclusive growth, and the development of a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable economic development, stressing that such progress can only be achieved in an atmosphere free from conflict and avoidable disputes.
