The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) has accredited the Pharmacy Technician programme at Alliance College of Health and Environmental Science, Dutsinma, in Katsina State, following a successful verification exercise of the institution’s academic and training standards.
The accreditation was confirmed during a visitation to the college premises, where the PCN inspection team assessed the institution’s curriculum, facilities, staffing, and overall compliance with regulatory requirements for pharmacy technician training.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, the Chairman of the Council, represented by Pharm. Agbumart Igbokwe, expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance observed, noting that the institution had demonstrated adherence to established pharmaceutical regulations and quality standards.
She explained that the accreditation process covers both academic programmes and practical training facilities, with emphasis on ensuring that students are adequately prepared for professional practice in the pharmaceutical sector.
According to her, the Pharmacy Technician programme met the required benchmarks for safety, curriculum quality, and facility standards, adding that such compliance is essential for producing competent graduates capable of delivering effectively in healthcare settings.
Pharm. Igbokwe further urged the institution to sustain its commitment to quality by maintaining standards in staffing, training, and infrastructure, stressing that consistency is key to producing skilled professionals.
In their separate remarks, the North-West Zonal Director of PCN, Pharm. Olabisi Obisesan, and the Katsina State Officer of the Council, Pharm. Farida Ibrahim, commended the management of the college for meeting the requirements of the accreditation exercise. They encouraged the institution to sustain the standards achieved and continue improving its training environment.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Governing Board of the College, Abdulkadir Sanusi Karofi, said the institution had fulfilled all necessary requirements set by the Council, which informed its decision to apply for accreditation of the programme.
He expressed appreciation to the visitation team for their thorough assessment and support, noting that their guidance had contributed to the successful outcome of the exercise.
Similarly, the Head of Department for Pharmacy Technician, Pharm. Lawal Sule Kuro, alongside Board Member Dr. Bishir Ahmed Mati, expressed satisfaction with the accreditation process and pledged continued commitment to maintaining high academic and professional standards.
The accreditation marks a significant milestone for the institution and is expected to strengthen pharmaceutical manpower development in Katsina State and beyond.
