Jigawa State Government has warned retirees to be extra careful not fall into the hands of fraudsters in the process of collecting their retirement benefits.
Jigawa Governor Lifts Suspension of Special Duties Commissioner
Executive Secretary, State And Local Government contributory pension scheme Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu, made the warning while addressing the 609 retirees at the premises of the Board’s office, Dutse.
He said the board Is not collecting or demanding anything before processing benefits of any retired civil servant or death benefit.

According to him, “ Our services are free; never bribe any of our staff for your terminal benefits, as we worked under guidelines establishing our Board in line with the consonant of Pension regulations.” Dr. Shitu Said.
He explained that the state Government has paid over N1,543 Billion as payment of terminal benefits to 609 who retired from active service on attainment of thirty-five years in service between the period of August to December 2024 by the Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board.
“The payment was categorized into four categories, indicating that the first batch of 465 retired staff consisted of those who retired either by reaching the mandatory retirement age of 35 years in service or sixty years by birth were paid N1,173,946,287 Billion”
Jigawa Witnessed Economic Recovery Within One Year-Governor
“The second categories of 103 staff are those who died while on active service, where their relations were paid the sum of N315,023,121.01million, while the third batch consist of 39 retirees who retired from service and started receiving monthly pension but died before reaching their minimum period of five years after rRetirement. These people were paid N54,193,759.77million”
“The last batch was beneficiaries who did not contribute up to five years, and the law stated that for every staff to qualify to be paid from the scheme was for him to contribute for a minimum period of five years”
“Under this category, we have paid two people the sum of N749, 010.31 including 15% interest”, Dr Shitu Said.
