The Alliance College of Environmental and Health Science, Dutsinma, Katsina State, has matriculated a total of 105 students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Provost of the college, Isah Mohammed Lawal, disclosed this during the matriculation ceremony held at the main campus in Shema, Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.
He cautioned the newly matriculated students against truancy, stressing that any student with less than 75 per cent class attendance would not be allowed to sit for examinations at the end of each semester.
According to him, class attendance is mandatory and not optional.
The Provost explained that matriculation is a solemn and significant academic ceremony that marks the formal admission of candidates into the institution and their recognition as bona fide students of the college.
Earlier, the Yandakan Katsina and District Head of Dutsinma, represented by the Yariman Dutsinma, Alhaji Ahamadu Abubakar, said the pursuit of knowledge remains the responsibility of parents, urging them to ensure their children acquire both Western and Islamic education to become useful members of society.
Similarly, the Village Head of Shema, Alhaji Abubakar Abdulsalam Magaji Shema, advised parents to closely monitor the activities of their children during school hours and holidays, while also inculcating moral values in them.
He noted that the matriculation ceremony confers on the students the rights and privileges of studentship, alongside the responsibilities attached to it, stressing that it goes beyond symbolism as it formally and legally grants matriculants the status of students of the college.
The matriculation oath, which binds the students morally and legally to the rules, regulations, and authority of the institution, was administered by Barrister Sabiu Iliyasu Zakka.
