Ummul-Quraa Academy, located at Gidan Leda in Sheka Gabas, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State, has held its second Qur’anic graduation ceremony, marking another milestone in its commitment to Islamic education and moral development.
The colourful event, held on Saturday under the academy’s guiding motto “Hasten Towards All That Is Good,” witnessed the graduation of 47 students who successfully completed their Qur’anic studies.
The ceremony attracted a large turnout of Islamic scholars, community leaders, dignitaries, and well-wishers from across Kano and beyond, reflecting the growing reputation of the academy as a centre for Qur’anic learning.
In his remarks, Sheikh Auwal Zakirai, speaking on behalf of Sheikh Muhammad bin Usman, underscored the importance of Qur’anic education as the foundation for moral upbringing and spiritual growth.
Sheikh Musa Abu Muhammad Al-Makkiy described the Qur’an as a source of guidance and elevation in both worldly life and the hereafter, highlighting its enduring spiritual benefits.
Similarly, Sheikh Abdallah Ishaq Garangamawa stressed that learning the Qur’an is an obligation upon every Muslim, urging parents and guardians to prioritise Islamic education in raising their children.
Sheikh Dr. Khidir Bashir AbdulHamid further elaborated on the rewards associated with Qur’anic knowledge, noting its positive impact not only on students but also on their families and society at large.
A goodwill message delivered on behalf of As-Sheikha Dr. Batulu Aminu Dantata encouraged the graduating students to remain committed to knowledge acquisition and perseverance in their studies.
Guest lecturer, Ustaz Aliyu Idris Abdus-Salam, delivered a reflective lecture that resonated with the audience, while Associate Professor Umar Hamza Ibrahim of Bayero University Kano called on stakeholders to increase support for Islamiyya schools, describing them as vital institutions for nurturing disciplined and morally upright citizens.
Legal practitioner Malam Bashir Shu’aibu Usman also spoke on the importance of Qur’anic education in shaping responsible members of society.
The event was graced by prominent personalities, including the Father of the Day, Alhaji Lamido Abubakar Bayero (Hakimin Kura); Chairman, Malam Ghali Yaya Nasir; Chief Guest of Honour, Alhaji Auwal Aminu (Dandarman Turai); and Special Guest of Honour, Alhaji Musa Aliyu Hassan.
Other distinguished attendees included retired Comptroller Alhaji Salihu Abubakar Sakwa, Alhaji Nasiru Gidado (Danejin Gombe), Alhaji Abbas Muhammad (Dandarman Gumel), Hon. Dr. Isma’il Aliyu Danmaraya, and Engr. Muhammad Lawan Kazaure.
The host, Alhaji Umar Yunusa, Mai Unguwar Sheka Gabas, expressed appreciation to guests for their support, while community leader Alhaji Abubakar Musa Zakari (Dagachin Sheka) commended the academy for its role in promoting Qur’anic education within the community.
The ceremony was coordinated by Ustaz Muhammad Bello Ibrahim Gyadi Gyadi, who served as Master of Ceremonies, while the school head, Ustaza Fadima Salisu Nasir, thanked parents, teachers, and supporters for their collective efforts in ensuring the success of the graduates.
The event concluded with prayers for the graduates, their families, and the continued growth and success of the institution.
