The Executive Chairman of Bida Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. UM Manko, Danmajen Nupe, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting educational development and protecting public infrastructure following an assessment of two vocational training centres by the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB).
The NSUBEB delegation, led by Board Member II, Hon. Mohammed Mudi, inspected the vocational training centres located at Government Girls Science Secondary School and Government Girls Day Secondary School in Bida to evaluate the condition of the facilities.
During the inspection, the delegation documented extensive damage caused by suspected vandals at the vocational centre within Government Girls Science Secondary School. At the Government Girls Day Secondary School centre, the team also identified damaged sections of the roof that require urgent repairs.
Following the assessment, the delegation appealed to the Bida Local Government Council to facilitate the electrification of both vocational centres and provide adequate security to prevent further vandalism and deterioration of the facilities.
Responding, the Executive Chairman commended the NSUBEB team for its proactive assessment and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to improving education across Bida Local Government Area.
Rt. Hon. Manko described the vandalism of public facilities as unfortunate and unacceptable, stressing that educational infrastructure represents a critical public investment that must be safeguarded.
He assured the delegation that the council would give due consideration to their requests and work with relevant stakeholders to facilitate the electrification of the centres while strengthening security measures to protect them from further damage.
The chairman also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities around public institutions, emphasizing that safeguarding government property is a shared responsibility.
He reiterated the council’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote vocational education, skills acquisition, youth empowerment and sustainable community development.
The Bida Local Government Council also reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining collaboration with NSUBEB and other relevant agencies to improve educational infrastructure and provide a conducive learning environment across the local government area.
