The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with the United Kingdom to improve governance, healthcare, education, and economic development in the state.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo, while representing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the British High Commission in Nigeria to the Government House, Kano.
The delegation was led by the Director for Development Cooperation, Cynthia Rowe.
Speaking during the meeting, the Deputy Governor said the visit reflects the long-standing relationship between Kano State and the United Kingdom, noting that the partnership has continued to support key sectors such as governance, health, education, and economic development.
He stressed that sustainable development can only be achieved through genuine collaboration built on mutual trust, transparency, and accountability.
Murtala Sule Garo added that the present administration under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains committed to creating an enabling environment for development partners to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the state’s economy.
In her remarks, Cynthia Rowe described Kano State as a long-standing and important partner of the United Kingdom, noting that the UK government is now focusing more on investment-driven growth and economic development rather than direct financial aid.
She explained that this shift is part of a broader approach to strengthening development partnerships and promoting sustainable economic cooperation.
