The Kano State Censorship Board has suspended two Kannywood actors, Amina Uba Hassan and Adam Garba, from all filming activities within the state for one year over the release of a video described as immoral.
The Board said the action followed the circulation of a video allegedly involving the two entertainers, which it said generated tension and public concern across communities in Kano State.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Board’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Abba El-Mustapha.

According to the statement, the suspension was in line with the Board’s mandate to regulate activities within the entertainment industry and ensure compliance with censorship laws in Kano State.
“The Board has the legal authority to suspend any actor or actress found violating the censorship regulations within the geographical territory of Kano State,” the statement said.
It warned that any individual or organization that violates the suspension order risks facing legal action and other sanctions as provided by law.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Abba El-Mustapha, also cautioned Kannywood stakeholders against actions capable of damaging the image and reputation of the Hausa film industry.
He urged filmmakers, producers, directors, and other industry practitioners to strictly comply with the directive, stressing that the Board would not hesitate to sanction anyone found aiding or violating the suspension order.
