The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB), Hon. Rabi’u Sale Gwarzo, has reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to the effective implementation of operational guidelines governing Science Model Classes across the state as part of efforts to enhance science education and improve students’ academic performance.
Gwarzo made the commitment during a meeting with principals of schools hosting Science Model Classes, convened to review progress, assess challenges, and discuss strategies for strengthening the implementation of the programme in line with established standards.
He stressed the importance of strict adherence to the operational framework guiding the initiative, noting that compliance with the approved guidelines is critical to achieving the programme’s objectives and improving learning outcomes.
The Executive Secretary also commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his continued investment in the education sector and his unwavering commitment to policies and programmes aimed at improving teaching and learning across Kano State.
According to him, the Science Model Class initiative reflects the state government’s determination to promote excellence in science education and equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to compete in an increasingly technology-driven world.
During the meeting, Gwarzo highlighted key areas requiring attention, including adherence to due process in admissions, effective conduct of practical lessons, participation in examinations, proper maintenance of school infrastructure and facilities, and the organisation of curriculum-based educational excursions.
He also emphasized the need for transparency in fee management, staff discipline, improved student performance, enhanced school security, proper record-keeping, and the efficient utilisation of resources to achieve better educational outcomes.
The meeting provided an opportunity for interactive engagement between school administrators and the Board’s management. Participants raised questions and highlighted operational challenges, which were addressed through detailed explanations and guidance aimed at ensuring the smooth implementation of government education policies.
Present at the meeting were key officials of the Board, including the Director of Schools Management, Alhaji Sani Haladu, and the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Hajiya Halima Musa Abubakar, both of whom contributed to discussions on improving the effectiveness of the Science Model Class programme.
The Board reiterated its commitment to supporting schools and ensuring that Science Model Classes continue to serve as centres of excellence for science education in Kano State.
