About 150 traditional and community leaders from Zaria Local Government Area have participated in a stakeholders’ engagement to review and create awareness about constituency projects implemented in Zaria Federal Constituency from 2023 to date.
The engagement was organised by Alhassan Ishaq Alhassan as the third in a series of initiatives aimed at assessing, documenting and creating public awareness about development interventions facilitated by the member representing Zaria Federal Constituency and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen.
The event was held as part of the unveiling ceremony of the “A Gani A Kasa, Iyan Zazzau Lungu da Saƙo” project, with the sub-theme, “Hantsi Leƙa Gidan Kowa.”
Speaking at the event, the convener, Alhassan Ishaq Alhassan, said the initiative was designed to ensure that residents were adequately informed about constituency projects being implemented in their communities and across the federal constituency.
He explained that the first phase brought together youth groups, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to assess the impact of constituency projects on communities.
According to him, the assessment covered major interventions in Zaria Local Government Area, including the Education City project, Aba Bridge, Kofar Doka–Agwaro Bridge and newly constructed healthcare facilities.
Alhassan said beneficiaries and other stakeholders were subsequently brought together for public discussions to obtain their views, assess the impact of the interventions and identify ways of improving their sustainability and effectiveness.
He said the engagement attracted participants from different backgrounds and political affiliations, describing their participation as an indication of the importance attached to development initiatives affecting the communities.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Zaria Local Government Area, Engr. Jamilu Ahmad Muhammad, commended the traditional and community leaders for responding positively to the invitation.
He said their participation demonstrated their commitment to initiatives aimed at promoting development and improving the welfare of residents across the local government area.
The chairman also highlighted some of the development projects facilitated by Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, saying the interventions had contributed to addressing critical socio-economic needs of constituents.
Some traditional and community leaders who attended the engagement also commended the projects, saying the interventions had contributed to the development of their communities and improved the wellbeing of residents.
The leaders expressed appreciation for the Speaker’s efforts in attracting development interventions to Zaria Federal Constituency and pledged their continued support for his leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
