The Kebbi State Police Command has arraigned four suspects in connection with a cattle rustling incident in border communities between Nigeria and the Niger Republic, reaffirming its commitment to the protection of lives and property.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on December 9, 2025, when unknown gunmen attacked some border villages and rustled about thirty-four cows.
SP Usman explained that acting on credible intelligence, police operatives attached to the Dolekaina Division, in collaboration with the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command, carried out a coordinated crackdown operation in the affected areas.
The operation led to the recovery of thirteen of the stolen cows and the arrest of four suspects identified as Bilyaminu Aliyu, Bashar Umar, Zaharaddeen Abdullahi, and Basiru Umar, also known as Haji Yaro.
He said that following preliminary investigations, the suspects were arraigned before a competent court to face charges related to cattle rustling, adding that efforts were ongoing to recover the remaining livestock and apprehend other accomplices who may be connected to the crime.
Commending the officers involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani, praised their professionalism and efficiency.
The police boss further reaffirmed the Command’s determination to combat cattle rustling and other criminal activities across the state, particularly in border communities.
