There are moments in the life of a nation when those entrusted with public responsibility must rise to the occasion, communicate with clarity and give citizens a clear understanding of government policies and programmes.
For President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointees, particularly those from the North, this is an important moment to take the message of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda to the grassroots.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has called on Ministers, Special Advisers, Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of Federal Government agencies to communicate the achievements and impact of the administration’s policies more effectively to Nigerians.
The call was made at the Federal Appointees Strategic Summit in Abuja and reported by several Nigerian newspapers.
Reacting to the development, the Co-Convener of the Nigeria Forward Project, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, said the message assumes greater political significance as the country approaches the 2027 presidential election.
He urged President Tinubu’s appointees, particularly those from the North, to take the Renewed Hope message beyond Abuja and communicate the administration’s policies, programmes and achievements directly to citizens at the grassroots.
Reports have also indicated that some heads of Federal Government agencies have commenced mobilisation for President Tinubu’s re-election, describing themselves as “foot soldiers of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
More recently, reports indicated that Senator Akume led North-Central political leaders in launching a grassroots mobilisation campaign for President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of 2027.
Such activities should go beyond political mobilisation. They provide an opportunity for those in government to explain to Nigerians what the Renewed Hope Agenda means in their daily lives and how government policies and programmes are intended to address their concerns.
President Tinubu’s appointees, especially those from the North, should therefore use their positions and platforms to communicate government policies, highlight measurable achievements and explain the administration’s priorities in areas such as infrastructure, economic reforms, institutional development and opportunities for citizens.
The message must go beyond Abuja. It should reach markets, farms, businesses, universities, communities and homes across Northern Nigeria.

Government communication should be taken directly to the people at the grassroots level, using language and examples that citizens can understand and relate to.
The aspirations and concerns of citizens must remain central to any grassroots engagement. Nigerians want to understand how government policies affect their livelihoods, businesses, education, employment opportunities, infrastructure and general well-being.
As the country moves towards the 2027 elections, Nigerians will make their choices based on their understanding and assessment of the political parties, candidates, policies and records presented to them.
It is therefore important for government officials involved in political mobilisation to communicate their positions clearly and support claims about government achievements with verifiable facts.
Tinubu’s appointees should not merely campaign for continuity. They should explain the reasons they believe continuity is necessary, present evidence of the administration’s record and clearly communicate its vision and priorities for the future.
Now is the time to take the Renewed Hope message to the people.
Let the story be told.
Let the achievements speak.
Let the vision be explained.

And let Nigerians make their judgment based on the information and evidence presented to them.
Renewed Hope should not remain merely a government slogan. It should be communicated through policies, programmes and outcomes that citizens can understand, assess and experience.
