The Director-General of the Kaduna State Bureau of Interfaith, Barrister Tahir Umar Tahir, has received a delegation from the Majlisu Madarisi Tahfizil Qur’anil Kareem (MTQ) to discuss areas of collaboration aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence and strengthening Qur’anic education in the state.
The delegation, led by the Ameer of the organisation, Suleiman Aliyu Abdullahi, visited the Director-General at his office in Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.
During the meeting, the delegation said the visit was aimed at fostering mutual understanding and exploring opportunities for collaboration, particularly in promoting peace and harmony within communities.
The delegation explained that MTQ, an Islamic educational organisation established in June 2026 in Kaduna North Local Government Area, is dedicated to promoting the memorisation, recitation and proper understanding of the Holy Qur’an.
According to the delegation, the organisation was founded through the collective efforts of Islamic scholars, Qur’anic teachers and community leaders to standardise and strengthen Tahfiz schools across Kaduna State and beyond.
The delegation, however, highlighted several challenges confronting the organisation, including inadequate funding, insufficient learning facilities, poor infrastructure and welfare concerns affecting students. It appealed to the Kaduna State Government for support to enable it achieve its objectives.
Responding, Barrister Tahir Umar Tahir commended the initiative, describing it as a welcome development that aligns with the state’s commitment to promoting peace, education and community development.
He disclosed that the administration of Governor Uba Sani is planning special interventions for educational institutions, including the provision of teaching materials and equipment to improve learning standards.
The Director-General assured the delegation of the government’s readiness to support initiatives that promote education, peaceful coexistence and social development, stressing that the doors of government remain open for constructive engagement and assistance.
