According to him, on September 10, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Bunza received credible intelligence that a gang of hoodlums had trespassed into the school premises along Dakingari road.
Acting swiftly, the DPO mobilised a combined team of police officers and vigilantes to the scene, where they caught the suspects vandalising the transformer with chainsaws and other mechanical tools after removing the armoured cables.
At the scene, a black Toyota Corolla “Eagle Eyes” with registration number KNT-359-SN, Niger State, was recovered, while two suspects, Sanusi Muhammad and Ibrahim Lawal, both from Sokoto State, were arrested.
The gang had earlier tied up the school watchman, identified as Muhammad Danda Masa Nasharu, before proceeding with the act.
Further investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) led to the arrest of two fleeing suspects — Tasi’u Abubakar and Tasi’u Abdullahi, both from Zamfara State.
