The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has called on stakeholders in Nigeria’s printing industry to embrace unity, reconciliation, and collaboration as the foundation for sustainable growth and global competitiveness.
Speaking at the 2026 Nigeria Print Industry Stakeholders’ Summit, themed “From Resolution to Renaissance,” held at Nikon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, the Minister described the recent resolution of the leadership dispute within the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria as a turning point for the industry.
He urged stakeholders to capitalize on the opportunity to reposition the sector, emphasizing that collective efforts would unlock the industry’s vast economic and employment potential.
“History has given you an opportunity to reposition this industry. Please seize it, work together, and let everyone support the leadership so that collectively you can move the profession forward,”
The Minister recalled that the crisis within CIPPON was among the first issues brought to his attention upon assuming office. He explained that his intervention was guided by the belief that dialogue and cooperation would deliver lasting solutions more effectively than prolonged litigation.
Idris described the printing industry as a strategic sector capable of creating jobs and contributing significantly to Nigeria’s economy. He noted that a united industry would be better positioned to attract government support and policy interventions.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting CIPPON by working with relevant institutions to strengthen professional standards, improve the business environment, and enhance the sector’s contribution to national development.
The Minister also urged the Institute’s leadership to adopt an inclusive approach by carrying all stakeholders along, regardless of past disagreements, stressing that lasting peace and unity would secure the profession’s future.
He further encouraged industry practitioners to embrace technological innovation to remain competitive in an increasingly digital global economy.
Earlier, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPPON, Koko T. Clement, highlighted the Institute’s achievements since the inauguration of the current Governing Council in December 2025.
According to him, the Institute has strengthened engagements with key government institutions to improve professional standards, enhance industry regulation, and promote policies that support the growth of Nigeria’s printing industry.
“Everything we do is for the growth of this Institute, for the benefit of every printer, every packaging professional, and every Nigerian who depends on this industry. We call on all stakeholders to work together in peace and mutual understanding so that what unites us remains greater than whatever may divide us,” Clement said.
The summit attracted key industry leaders, including Michael Akinola, Chief Executive Officer of KA2 Press Limited; Ademola Kasumu, Managing Director of KA2 Press Limited; and Abubakar Ndagi, Registrar of CIPPON, alongside senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation and other stakeholders from Nigeria’s printing and packaging industry.
