Plans have been finalised for the inaugural Nigeria Reputation Summit convened by the Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG), a private sector–driven initiative of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
The summit will hold tomorrow, Tuesday, 20 January 2026, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja and will bring together key stakeholders from government, business, and civil society to advance national conversations on rebuilding Nigeria’s reputation as a vital capital asset.
Among prominent participants expected at the event are the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, and former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, who will deliver the keynote address themed “Better Nigeria, Better Reputation.”
A major highlight of the summit is a youth-focused interactive session titled “The Power of Youth, Technology & Creativity in Rebuilding Nigeria’s Reputation.”
The session will examine how innovation, digital platforms, and the creative economy can be harnessed to project a more positive and authentic image of the country.
The NRMG was established to coordinate and strengthen the key reputation drivers that shape Nigeria’s image locally and internationally.
The group aims to promote deliberate actions that influence national behaviour, narratives, and collective consciousness.
Speaking ahead of the summit, Chairman of NRMG, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, explained that the initiative was inspired by the urgent need for a more strategic approach to managing Nigeria’s global perception.
“A nation’s reputation is not built by chance. It is shaped by leadership, institutions, citizens, and the stories we tell through our actions.
The Nigeria Reputation Summit provides a platform to align these forces and take responsibility for how Nigeria is seen and experienced,” Badejo-Okusanya said.
