The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through its Lagos Operations Office, carried out the distribution of relief materials to residents affected by recent flood and windstorm disasters in Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The exercise, held at Rafiu Crescent, Mafoluku, within the Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency, aimed to address the immediate humanitarian needs of households adversely affected by the incidents.
The intervention followed the approval of the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, in line with the Federal Government’s commitment to providing coordinated support to disaster-affected communities and easing post-disaster hardship.
The distribution was coordinated and supervised by officials of the NEMA Lagos Operations Office in collaboration with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Nigerian Army, and other relevant stakeholders.
Also in attendance were the Member of the House of Representatives representing Oshodi/Isolo I Federal Constituency, Hon. Bashiru Dawodu, alongside his aides, traditional rulers, community leaders, security agencies, and partner organisations.
Their presence ensured transparency, effective coordination, crowd control, and strict adherence to established distribution procedures.
Speaking during the exercise, the Head of Operations, Lagos Operations Office, Mr. Mohammed Olatunde, expressed sympathy to the affected residents and reassured beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s continued concern for their welfare.
He explained that the relief materials were provided to cushion the immediate impact of the disasters and support affected households in their recovery process.
Beneficiaries from various affected communities expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and NEMA for the timely intervention, describing the assistance as crucial in helping them cope with their losses.
