Operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency have arrested a suspected burglar and recovered a locally made firearm during an operation in Ikorodu Area of the state.
The arrest was carried out by officers attached to the Imota Command following reports of suspicious movements around the Imota area.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the agency on its social media platform.
According to the statement, the operation was conducted in the early hours of Friday, March 13, after residents raised concerns about suspicious activities around the Araromi area.
The operatives subsequently apprehended a 25-year-old suspect identified as Monday Enoch at about 4:22 am.
“The arrest followed a report of suspicious movements around the Araromi area of Imota on Friday, March 13, 2026.
“Acting swiftly on the information, officers deployed to the area apprehended a 25-year-old suspect, Monday Enoch, at about 4:22 am,” the statement read.
The suspect reportedly confessed to being in possession of two firearms and later led operatives to an uncompleted building in the Agbowa area where a locally made long gun was recovered.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being in possession of two firearms.
“He later led operatives to an uncompleted building in the Mosafejo area of Agbowa where a locally made long gun was recovered,” the statement added.
Speaking on the development, the General Manager of the agency, Ifalade Oyekan, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with other security agencies.
“Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with other law enforcement agencies at the federal, state and local government levels,” the statement said.
The agency added that the suspect and the recovered firearm had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Imota Police Division for further investigation and possible prosecution.
It also noted that efforts were ongoing to recover the second firearm allegedly stolen in Ogun State.
