The Kebbi State Police Command has announced a series of activities to mark the 2026 National Police Day celebration, with a focus on strengthening community partnership and building public trust.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to people-centred policing, stressing that collaboration between the Police and the public remains vital to achieving sustainable peace and security.
According to him, the week-long activities will commence on Monday, March 30, 2026, with an environmental sanitation exercise along Ahmadu Bello Way in Birnin Kebbi. This will be held alongside a medical outreach programme at the Central Market, where residents will benefit from free healthcare services.
The CP added that a walkathon is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, starting at 6:00 a.m. from the Police Divisional Headquarters near Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital. The exercise will cover major routes within the metropolis before returning to the take-off point, and is aimed at promoting unity and strengthening police-community relations.
He further disclosed that on Wednesday, April 1, the Command will carry out public sensitisation campaigns focusing on electoral violence prevention, peaceful coexistence, and safe driving practices.
As part of efforts to honour fallen heroes, CP Hadejia said cheques will be presented to families of deceased officers on Thursday, April 2, in recognition of their sacrifices to the nation.
The activities will culminate in a grand finale scheduled to hold at Eagle Square on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
The Commissioner called on key stakeholders, including the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), other security agencies, civil society organisations, and members of the public to actively participate in the events.
He assured residents of the Command’s continued dedication to the protection of lives and property, while reiterating the importance of sustained community engagement in effective policing.
