Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned communication scholar, Dr. Musa Adamu Labaran of the Faculty of Communication, Bayero University Kano, who died on Sunday after a brief illness.
In a condolence message issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf described the late academic as a distinguished scholar, mentor, and intellectual whose contributions to communication studies, media scholarship, and public discourse would remain enduring.

The governor said Dr. Labaran’s death was a significant loss to the academic community, media profession, and society at large, noting that the deceased devoted his life to teaching, research, and mentoring students and professionals across different fields.
According to him, the late scholar left behind a legacy of excellence, integrity, and selfless service to humanity through his commitment to knowledge dissemination and intellectual development.
Governor Yusuf further stated that the passing of Dr. Labaran has created a huge vacuum in academia and the communication profession due to his passion for scholarship and dedication to shaping future generations.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, colleagues, students, and loved ones the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

The governor also extended his condolences to the academic community, media practitioners, friends, and associates of the late scholar during the difficult period.
