Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has issued a set of requirements for prospective corps members and graduating students ahead of the Batch ‘B’ 2026 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilisation exercise, warning that failure to comply could result in the rejection of students’ records on the NYSC portal.
The guidelines were contained in a special bulletin signed by Bala G. Abdullahi, Secretary, Information and Publication.
According to the notice, all prospective corps members are required to verify and refresh their admission status with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) before their details are uploaded for mobilisation.
The university advised affected students to obtain fresh copies of their JAMB admission letters, stressing that the use of old admission letters could lead to unsuccessful uploads.
“Uploading details without refreshing your JAMB admission status will cause the upload process to fail. Do not use old admission letters,” the statement noted.
The bulletin also urged students to resolve any discrepancies in their names or personal details with both JAMB and the university before the mobilisation process begins.
It explained that inconsistencies between records maintained by JAMB and those of the institution would trigger automatic rejection by the NYSC system.
Students who have previously corrected their names or other personal information were advised to ensure that such corrections are fully reflected across all relevant records prior to the upload exercise.
As part of measures to ensure accuracy, the university said details of students slated for upload would be displayed on the notice board of the Deanery of Student Affairs for verification.
Affected students were directed to carefully check the correctness of their matriculation numbers, JAMB registration numbers, names, degree classifications, and dates of graduation before the upload process is completed.
The institution further cautioned that once students’ records are uploaded to the NYSC portal, subsequent corrections can only be made by the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters.
The university therefore called on all prospective corps members and graduating students to comply strictly with the requirements to avoid delays, rejections, and other challenges that could affect their mobilisation.
