The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, has commended the Ministry for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME) for its innovative collaborative governance initiative, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening transparency, accountability, and effective public service delivery across the state.
Dr. Makoda made the remarks during a stakeholders’ engagement session held at the Ministry of Education in Kano. The meeting was aimed at enhancing cooperation among government institutions and promoting compliance with procurement procedures and regulations.
According to the commissioner, the ministry’s commitment to collaboration and inclusive governance has improved coordination among ministries, departments, and other critical stakeholders, resulting in more effective project implementation and better value for public resources.
He noted that fostering stronger institutional partnerships remains essential to achieving efficient governance and ensuring that government programmes deliver meaningful benefits to citizens.
Speaking during the engagement, the Commissioner for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, said the visit was designed to establish a strategic partnership between the two ministries to address identified gaps and strengthen procurement systems in line with the Kano State Public Procurement Law.
Sumaila emphasized the importance of strict adherence to due process in procurement activities and project execution, stressing that transparency, accountability, and value for money must remain central to government expenditure.
He also commended the Ministry of Education for its commitment to procurement regulations, noting that the ministry has demonstrated a commendable level of compliance with established procedures.
According to him, the ministry’s adherence to due process has contributed significantly to transparency, accountability, and improved service delivery within the education sector.
In his response, Dr. Makoda expressed appreciation for the visit and lauded the efforts of the Ministry for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation in ensuring compliance with procurement standards across government institutions.
The education commissioner acknowledged the importance of the guidance and recommendations provided by the visiting team and pledged that the Ministry of Education would continue to strengthen its procurement processes and apply the advice received to improve efficiency and service delivery.
The meeting highlighted the commitment of both ministries to promoting transparency, accountability, and inter-agency collaboration in the implementation of government policies and development programmes.
Stakeholders noted that stronger collaboration among government institutions remains crucial to achieving good governance and accelerating socio-economic development in Kano State.
