The Kano State Government has presented appointment letters to 8,588 newly recruited teachers and Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) personnel as part of efforts to strengthen the education sector and improve learning outcomes across the state.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, alongside the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, presented the appointment letters during a ceremony held in Kano.
The beneficiaries comprise 4,900 newly recruited teachers and 3,688 BESDA personnel under the 2026 programme.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Alausa commended the education reforms being implemented by the Kano State Government, describing the state as a model for educational development in Nigeria.
The Minister said the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality education through the recruitment of qualified teachers would strengthen the sector and improve learning outcomes.
Earlier, Dr. Alausa inaugurated the newly constructed Abba Kabir Yusuf Girls’ Secondary School in the Dangwauro community, where he also applauded the state government’s investment in educational infrastructure.
Governor Yusuf said the recruitment forms part of his administration’s efforts to address the shortage of teachers in public schools and provide every child with access to quality education.
Stakeholders at the event expressed optimism that the recruitment would improve the teacher-to-student ratio, enhance classroom instruction and contribute to better academic performance across Kano State.
