The Permanent Secretary, Bauchi State Ministry of Education, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed, has charged staff of the Education Resource Centre (ERC) to be diligent, proactive and committed to delivering on the Centre’s mandate, stressing the need to justify the government’s investment in the facility.
Ahmed gave the charge on Monday while receiving the management team of the Education Resource Centre, led by its Director, Hajiya Balkisu Isa, during a courtesy visit to his office.
He said the visit provided an opportunity for the ministry to engage directly with the Centre’s management on its operations and expectations, noting that the state government is determined to ensure the effective utilization of the facility.
The Permanent Secretary said the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim, has a clear vision for the Education Resource Centre, adding that the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has committed substantial resources to its development.
“We do not want people staying without a schedule or sitting idle. The government has invested heavily in the Education Resource Centre, and we must ensure that the investment delivers value,” he said.
Ahmed urged members of staff to rededicate themselves to their responsibilities and remain focused on achieving the Centre’s objectives.
He warned that the ministry would not tolerate indolence, stressing that officers who fail to perform their duties risk being redeployed.
Earlier, the Director of the Education Resource Centre, Hajiya Balkisu Isa, briefed the Permanent Secretary on the Centre’s activities, achievements and operational challenges.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the management and staff to align with the policies and priorities of the Ministry of Education in improving the quality of teaching and learning across the state.
The Education Resource Centre is responsible for the production of teaching and learning materials as well as providing in-service training and professional development programmes for teachers across Bauchi State.
