The National Coordinator of the Junior Engineers, Technicians, and Scientists (JETS) Program, Mrs. Mabe Christiana, has paid a sensitization visit to the Kano State Ministry of Education as part of ongoing engagements with key stakeholders across the state.
During the visit, Christiana said the purpose was to formally notify the ministry of the upcoming Stakeholders Engagement Meeting slated for January 2026 in Kano and to strengthen collaboration toward advancing science and technology education among young learners.
She highlighted the vital role of the JETS program in nurturing creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among students, noting that the initiative prepares future scientists, engineers, and innovators who contribute significantly to national development.
She called for sustained partnership with the ministry and its agencies to ensure the successful implementation of scheduled activities.
Responding, the Commissioner for Education, Gwani Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, represented by the Director, Educational Support Services, Hajiya Halima Sadiya Tukur, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to prioritizing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
She assured the National Coordinator that Kano State will continue to participate actively in all JETS programs and competitions.
She further directed education parastatals under the ministry to give full cooperation to JETS in line with the Federal Ministry of Education’s collaborative efforts to strengthen STEM learning nationwide.
As part of her engagements in Kano, the National Coordinator also visited the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to brief its management and solicit their support towards the January 2026 stakeholders meeting.
