NNPC Limited has confirmed that a reported breach on a section of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) in South West Warri, Delta State, has been successfully contained, with no threat to host communities or the environment.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, December 11, 2025, prompted immediate response measures by the national oil company to prevent escalation and ensure safety.

According to NNPC Limited, all affected sections of the pipeline were promptly isolated as part of coordinated containment efforts.
A joint preliminary inspection was subsequently carried out at the affected site by technical teams from NNPC Limited, the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and maintenance contractors to assess the situation and determine next steps.
NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), the operator of the pipeline network, has also activated its Business Continuity Plan to manage the impact of the incident on stakeholders, including gas shippers and suppliers.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Limited, Mr. Andy Odeh, said the company remains in close communication with host communities, state authorities, and other critical stakeholders.
