The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has signed landmark Development Agreements with Suburban Broadband Limited and Akida Hills Limited to transform Jabi Lake into a modern recreational hub in the heart of Abuja.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, hailed Abuja as a fast-developing city with immense potential for recreation.
He noted, however, that the pace of urban development had been slowed by land speculators who held onto plots without developing them.
The Minister emphasized that the era of land hoarding in the FCT is over. “For those who have applied for land for development, they will be expected to complete it within the next six months. Failure to do so will result in revocation of the land,”
At the ceremony, Mr. Pankaj Khandelwal, representing Suburban Broadband Limited, described the agreement as a landmark moment for the company. He highlighted that the project would stimulate socioeconomic growth and create jobs across the FCT.
Mr. Bamisile Olukayode, representative of Akida Hills Limited, praised the Minister for his visionary leadership and called the Jabi Lake development “exciting.”
He further stated that the project aims to rival Times Square in New York and the Dubai Fountain Water Show, positioning Abuja as a premier destination city. Mr. Olukayode assured that the development would be completed before the end of the year, placing Abuja among the world’s class cities.
The signing ceremony was held at the FCT Minister’s conference room, marking a significant step in the FCTA’s drive to boost recreational and tourism infrastructure in the territory.
