Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has filed a suit against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, challenging what he described as the unlawful invasion of his residence in Abuja.
The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/345/2026, was filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Through his legal team led by Oluwole Iyamu, el-Rufai is asking the court to nullify a search warrant issued by a magistrate court in the Federal Capital Territory on February 4, 2026.
The warrant authorised operatives of the anti-corruption agency to search and seize items from his residence.
The dispute centres on the legality of the warrant and the circumstances surrounding the search conducted by ICPC operatives.
El-Rufai has been in the custody of the Commission since Wednesday, February 18, in connection with ongoing investigations. However, his media aide, Muyiwa Adekeye, alleged on Thursday that the search of the former governor’s residence was carried out unlawfully.
The ICPC has yet to issue an official response to the allegations.
The case is expected to test the legality of the search warrant and the conduct of the anti-corruption agency, as proceedings continue before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
