The Kano Indigenes in Abuja Initiative has held its second major meeting at Rumfa College, as part of preparations for its upcoming national inauguration scheduled to take place in Abuja.
The meeting brought together members and key stakeholders committed to promoting unity, social responsibility, and community development among Kano indigenes residing in the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking during the gathering, the Chairman of the association, Ali Baba Ibrahim, popularly known as Ali Baba, said the initiative was established in 2009 with the core objective of supporting orphans and the less privileged.
He reaffirmed the group’s commitment to improving access to education for students and addressing the growing challenge of drug abuse among youths.
Ali Baba also disclosed that preparations are in top gear for the national inauguration of the association’s leadership, an event expected to attract dignitaries and members from across the country to Abuja.
According to him, the inauguration will usher in a new phase for the organisation, enabling it to expand its activities and strengthen its presence nationwide.
As part of resolutions reached at the meeting, representatives from the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State were issued official introduction letters.
The leaders were mandated to present the association to their respective traditional rulers and Local Government Chairmen to enhance grassroots engagement and foster collaboration with local authorities.
Some participants, including Huzaifa Muhammad Lawan from Gwale Local Government Area and Mariya Yahaya Wudil, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the meeting, commending the leadership’s vision, organisation, and dedication to community service.
The meeting ended with an interactive session, where participants engaged the leadership on key issues, reflecting transparency and unity within the association.
