Manchok, Kaduna State-Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has officially presented the staff of office to Ishaku Tagwai Sambo, marking his ascension as the 15th Chief of Moro’a in Southern Kaduna.
The coronation ceremony took place on Saturday at the Moro’a Chiefdom headquarters in Manchok, following the death of his father and predecessor, Chief Tagwai Sambo, who ruled for nearly 58 years.

Chief Ishaku Sambo, formerly the Madakin Moro’a, was appointed to the revered position in December 2024, following traditional and government protocols.
In his address, Governor Sani highlighted the significance of the role, stating, “Your appointment is more than a title – it is a trust, a testament, and a task. It is a trust handed to you by your people and sanctioned by the laws of Kaduna State.”
The governor paid glowing tribute to the late Chief Tagwai Sambo, describing him as “a colossus” and a man of peace, patience, and purpose.
He charged the new chief to live up to his father’s enduring legacy of service and integrity.
“Let peace be your pledge. Let progress be your pursuit. Let unity be your umbrella,” Governor Sani urged the people of Moro’a, calling for unity and support for the new traditional ruler.

Speaking on the broader role of traditional rulers, the governor emphasized their importance in governance and security. “Our royal fathers are partners in policy, protectors of peace, and promoters of progress. They serve as our first line of intelligence in tackling insecurity, and are vital in grassroots mobilization for health, education, and development.”
Sani reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to working closely with traditional institutions to ensure security and socio-economic advancement.
He acknowledged that recent security improvements across Kaduna State are partly due to the synergy between traditional rulers, security agencies, and government efforts.
The event was graced by prominent dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly Henry Magaji, and Hon. Mathew Kuzialo, member of the House of Representatives for Kaura Federal Constituency.
