The Kano state commissioner of
Information and internal affairs Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya and others, including Information Officers and Public Relations practitioners, have been formally inducted into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
The high-profile event brought together senior government officials, media executives, scholars, and key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.
Waiya 71 others Cleared for NIPR Direct Membership Induction
72 of the inductees were drawn from the Kano State Government, three from Jigawa State, while five others came from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and private organisations.
In his remarks, Commissioner Waiya congratulated his fellow inductees and highlighted the significance of professionalism, transparency, and ethical conduct in public communication.
He reaffirmed the Kano State Government’s commitment to promoting responsible information management and strategic communication.
Earlier in his welcome address, Vice President of the NIPR, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, highlighted the vital role of public relations in nation-building.

He charged the new members to uphold the Institute’s values, code of ethics, and professional standards in their respective roles.
The induction oath was administered by the Chairman of the NIPR Governing Council and President of the Institute, Dr. Ike Neliaku.
He gave a historical overview of the Institute, noting that it was established in 1963 and later chartered by Decree No. 16 of 1990.
Dr. Neliaku emphasised the need for continuous professional development and integrity in the practice of public relations.
The event marked a significant milestone for the newly inducted members and served as a call to action for ethical and impactful communication in governance and public service.
