Jigawa Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA) has targeted 3,186,521 children against measles and rubella across the state.
Jigawa state immunization officer, Shehu Ibrahim srated this during a media dialogue and sensitisation for the upcoming integrated vaccination campaign in the state scheduled to commence on 06 October, to 15th, 2025.
He said the integrated exercise targeted 48-49% population, covering children between 9 months and -14.

“The exercise targeted children from 9 months to 14 years for measles/rubella, NOPV 0 to 59 months, HPV 9 years to 14, and RI from 0 months to 23 months ”
According to Shehu the program will be held between 6th and 15th October across the 288 wards in the 27 local government areas of the state, added
The SIO said the exercise will be conducted at all the primary and secondary health facilities, public buildings across the 288 wards in the state.
He warned parents against noncompliance and to make sure they take their children to the centres for Immunization.
The SIO, however, urged the mum’s cooperation for the success of the programme.
Earlier speaking, State Coordinator NPHCDA, Dr. Kabiru Mustapha, said the Federal Government targeted to reach 100 million children for the exercise to reduce morbidity and mortality rate in the country.
Available data shows that Nigeria in 2019-2024 reported a total of 94.304 confirmed measles cases with 714 deaths.
