The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration are already delivering tangible dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
The Minister stated this on Thursday during an interactive session with support groups of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Radio House in Abuja.
Idris highlighted key achievements of the administration, noting that several campaign promises have been fulfilled.
“We have fulfilled many of our campaign promises. Students’ loans have been achieved, and fuel subsidy corruption has ended. States are receiving more money, local government autonomy has come to stay, and every region now has its development commission,” he said.
He added that the economy is showing strong signs of recovery.
“Our economy has rebounded, our foreign reserve is growing, and inflation is dropping. We have embarked on massive infrastructure development across all sectors of the economy in the six geopolitical zones,” the Minister stated.
On national security, Idris disclosed that President Tinubu has approved the recruitment of additional personnel into the Army and Police, along with fresh support for state-established security outfits. He said these steps would mark a major turning point in the country’s fight against insecurity.
“We are faced with the urgent need to defeat terrorism and banditry, and to keep the nation safe for everyone, irrespective of tribe, tongue or religion, as guaranteed by our constitution,” he said, reaffirming the government’s resolve to secure the country.
Idris also assured that youth empowerment remains a priority for the administration, noting that an unprecedented number of young Nigerians have been appointed to lead Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
He urged the APC support groups to intensify efforts in promoting government programmes and amplifying their impacts nationwide, stressing the need for unity and adherence to the party’s founding principles.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mrs. Adenike Abubakar and Dr. Abiola Moshood pledged the groups’ unwavering commitment to the implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
